Carver County, established in 1862, is located in the Southwest part of the Twin Cities Metro area.
Carver County, is bordered:
- on the north by Hennepin County and Wright County,
- on the west by McLeod County,
- on the south by Sibley County and Scott County, and
- on the east by Hennepin County and Scott County.
U.S. Highway 212, and Minnesota Highways 5 and 7, are the primary east-west transportation routes. Minnesota Highways 41, and 25, are the primary north-south transportation routes.
Carver County is named after Jonathan Carver, an 18th-century explorer who was searching for a water route to the Pacific Ocean

Carver County, Minnesota had a population of 91,042, as of the 2010 Census, an increase of 29.7% over the 2000 Census population of 70,205.

Chaska, founded in 1851 as “Little Rapids”, is the county seat for Carver County, Minnesota, having a population of 23,770 as of the 2010 Census
